Thrid year Annual Report
(2004 - 2005):
During this year project has completed critical milestones and
deliverables. The detailed annual report
consists of project plan, deliverables and report on individual work
packages. The project has completed WP 2 and WP3 successfully.
Methods to invert ecosystem model parameters against eddy
covariance data have been successfully developed. The parameters of
ecosystem models TEMS have been successfully inverted against a number
of eddy covariance sites. Historical 20th century simulation for
Land carbon balances has been completed. Both Phenology and carbon
fluxes due to rise of CO2, Climate variability and landu use changes
are modelled for the period. The protocol and design of nowcasting
carbon data assimilation system is developed. The fully operataional
system will be developed in GEMS and Carbo-Europe IP projects. CAMELS brochure has releaset at COP
11 meeting at Montreal. For Technical Implementation Plan, please visit

Second year Annual Report
(2003 - 2004):
The project has completed successfully year. During this year project
has completed critical milestones and deliverables. The detailed annual report
consists of project plan, deliverables and report on individual work
packages. The project has completed two work packages successfully.
During this period all driving data needed for Terrestrial Ecosystem
models (TEM) validation has been compiled. There has been another
addition of 20 biome-specific datasets to cover a wide range of biomes,
extending both northern and southern hemispheres. Forest data like
forest extent, growth, age class distributions and uncertainties in
forest inventories across Europe have been compiled. A comparison
between forest inventories and historical landuse dataset available for
1990 have showed variation in the extent of forest/crop area.
All TEM have been validated with the biome specific site ( Needle
Leaf ) and the uncertainties in the model internal parameters have
identified and models have been calibrated with these internal
parameters. Met Office Surface Exchange (MOSES) model has been improved
by incorporating the two stream light interception model replacing big
leaf light mode.
Protocol for historical 20th century simulation for Land carbon
balances has been prepared. All driving datasets for these simulations
have been compiled. The preliminary investigations for requirements
(design/inputs) of nowcasting carbon data assimilation system is being
carried out. A prototype of CCDAS is also presented. Finally,
report on the dissemination of CAMELS results in COP10, Global Carbon
Project and the other recongized forums is presented in 3.5 section of
the annual report. For Technical Implementation Plan, please visit at
following website link www.cordis.lu/fp5/tip.htm.
First Year Annual Report
(2002 - 2003):
CAMELS project has started during November-2002. It has completed first
year on 31-October-2003. The workpackage team leaders have
provided the progress of the work of CAMELS project. This has been
consolidated and presented in the CAMELS
annual report -2003. This annual report contains sections of
Management and Resource usage summary, Executive publishable information
and Work package reports section. For Technical Implementation
Plan, please visit at following website link www.cordis.lu/fp5/tip.htm.
